Controller Job Description
A marketing coordinator assists the marketing department of a company in coordinating all of its marketing efforts. The marketing coordinator may assist the director or vice president of marketing, completing tasks that help the department reach its marketing goals. The responsibility of a Marketing Coordinator is to develop and execute the plans for a marketing campaign. They do this through drafting reports, creating content or coordinating its production with sales teams for their strategies to succeed. They also track results from these activities to plan future efforts based on what has been seen before.
Because marketing coordinators are responsible for coordinating tasks among all marketing team members and project vendors, verbal and written communication skills are crucial. Marketing coordinators often have numerous projects ongoing at one time. Strong project management skills will help with organizing, planning and completing each of these projects. Marketing coordinators are often tasked with creating marketing materials, so creativity skills can be useful. Analyzing marketing initiatives’ results can be just as important as planning them. Analytical skills will assist the marketing coordinator in interpreting the success of a marketing campaign and making the necessary changes to improve results. A good understanding of technology can be useful in the marketing coordinator role. Marketing coordinators often work with computers, mobile phones and tablets to coordinate digital communication and strategies. They may also use computers to create and design marketing materials. Depending on the role, some marketing coordinators will be responsible for making quick decisions. Whether it is how to respond to a customer complaint on a social media platform or which creative to print, confident decision-making skills are essential.
Typical duties of a Controller
• Conduct research to analyze customers’ behavior (e.g. purchasing habits, trends and preferences)
• Design and implement successful marketing campaigns
• Set up tracking systems for online marketing activities
• Track progress with Marketing Managers and/or Marketing Specialists
• Identify and analyze competitors
• Prepare reports by collecting and analyzing sales data
• Collaborate with the design department to produce promotional materials
• Craft clear product marketing copy
• Organize promotional activities for new products/services
• Prepare (monthly, quarterly and annual) forecasts
Skills:
• Proven work experience as a Marketing Coordinator, Marketing Officer or similar role
• Knowledge of traditional and digital marketing tools
• Experience with research methods using data analytics software
• Expertise with SEO/SEM campaigns
• Solid computer skills, including MS Office, web analytics and Google Adwords
• Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management and Content Management System software
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
Qualifications: BSc degree in Marketing or relevant field
