Typical duties of a Controller
• Formulating a marketing plan for each event, including creating a budget and hiring staff to help execute the campaign
• Coordinating with vendors such as caterers, florists, event planners, and other suppliers to ensure that event details are met
• Developing a site plan for each event, including where speakers or musical acts will be located and where food and drink stations will be located
• Managing a team of event staff, including planners, production workers, security guards, and ushers for major events such as concerts or sporting events
• Creating a social media strategy to promote events through online channels such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
• Managing sponsorships for events, including negotiating contracts with sponsors and developing sponsorship packages tailored to each client’s needs
• Planning and implementing marketing strategies to increase attendance at events
• Working with designers to create promotional materials such as banners, fliers, billboards, and advertisements
• Coordinating with outside agencies such as police departments to ensure that events are held smoothly and efficiently
