Controller Job Description
A marketing associate is an entry-level marketing professional. Also called a marketing administrative assistant or an assistant account executive, a marketing associate supports the efforts of marketing managers or directors. They assist marketing teams or related departments with planning and completing projects. Marketing associates carry out the day-to-day activities of the marketing department. This may include researching trends, monitoring campaigns, writing or proofreading materials or assisting with administrative tasks. Marketing associates also often collaborate with various departments to oversee creating marketing deliverables. However, the exact responsibilities of a marketing associate may vary based on where they work. Marketing associates handle a variety of tasks, and their tasks may vary based on the organization they work for. Many marketing associates often complete a variety of administrative tasks. These tasks include scheduling meetings, completing data entry, tracking inventory and answering emails. Some marketing associates also have finance-related responsibilities, such as tracking invoices.
Once you complete high school, it’s important to earn a college degree. While some employers will accept an associate degree, many prefer candidates with a bachelor’s degree. Consider pursuing a major like: Marketing; Advertising; Communications; Business; Public relations
Typical duties of a Controller
• Manage daily administrative tasks to ensure the Marketing department runs smoothly
• Conduct market research to identify new opportunities
• Gather and analyze consumer behavior data (e.g. web traffic and rankings)
• Create reports on marketing and sales metrics, like conversion rates
• Assist with organizing promotional events
• Coordinate with the Marketing Design and Content teams to create advertising material (e.g. brochures and newsletters)
• Keep organized records of marketing metrics and results of past campaigns
• Prepare regular sales forecasting reports
• Monitor competitors’ marketing activities
Skills:
• Proven work experience as a Marketing Associate, Marketing Assistant or similar role
• Knowledge of marketing digital tools and techniques
• Experience with SEO/SEM campaigns
• Solid computer skills, including MS Excel, web analytics and Google Adwords
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong analytical skills with a goal-oriented attitude
Qualifications: BSc degree in Marketing or relevant field
