Human Resources Administrator
Controller Job Description
A job as an HR Administrator can be high stress, very fast-paced, and difficult. HR administrators will need to be able to multitask, explain things in layman’s terms, and be exceptionally organized. HR Administrators help manage and prepare different HR documents, help employees with issues that arise, facilitate employee onboarding and training, and help with payroll. As they are the first point of contact between employees and the HR department, they will handle employee contracts, recruiting, and interviewing for the company. HR administrators should possess strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent time management skills, and a passion for the company they work for.
Successful human resource administrators need to possess other skills that enable them to be effective in their roles as leaders and managers. Management-level HR professionals should be good listeners, critical thinkers, and have ethical judgment. They should have the ability to evaluate the skills of their workforce in order to select the right person for a specific job. HR administrators must also have strong negotiation skills to assist in helping to mediate conflicting issues. Good social perceptiveness, or the ability to be aware of others’ actions and reactions, and have an understanding as to why people react as they do, helps HR professionals anticipate ways in which change or conflict may be perceived.
HR administrators need a bachelor’s degree. Many colleges and universities now offer degree programs in HR management. A degree in business or a related area of study is also acceptable, so students have some flexibility when choosing a degree to pursue. HR management programs cover topics that come up in actual work scenarios such as labor relations, conflict management, and employment laws. Aspiring administrators should consider a program that includes a work-study experience. Many colleges offer students the opportunity to gain valuable experience through these types of programs. For those pursuing an undergraduate degree in human resources management, the school is able to make arrangements for students to learn more about the industry through on-the-job training and instruction
