Information Security Analyst
Controller Job Description
An information security analyst takes measures to protect a company’s sensitive and mission-critical data, staying one step ahead of cyber attackers. They do this by coming up with innovative solutions to prevent critical information from being stolen, damaged, or compromised by hackers. With the rise in hackers and data breaches sweeping throughout companies and the government, there is a greater need to keep personal and top-secret information safe from cyberattacks. Information security analysts help develop, implement, and ensure compliance of policies to protect an organization’s data from being inappropriately accessed or used, by erecting firewalls, and by encrypting data transmissions to secure confidential information as it is being received or transmitted. These attacks may come from inside or outside the company.
Typical duties of a Controller
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Operational support for information security tool alerts, triaging, and maintenance
• Execute on information security activities such as vulnerability management, application development security, business continuity, networking, risk management, etc.
• Assess security controls and evaluate security posture of organizational internal controls
• Evaluate third party relationships for compliance to organization security standards
• Research security trends, new methods, and techniques used in order to preemptively eliminate the possibility of system breach
• Maintain confidentiality on all sensitive security matters
Essential skills:
• Excellent time management and communication skills
• Strong ability to research technical challenges and learn quickly to provide security guidance
• Familiarity with compliance regulations (e.g. FERPA, HIPAA)
• Demonstrated ability of analytical expertise, close attention to details, critical thinking, logic, and solution oriented
Qualifications: Minimum three years’ experience directly related to Information Security
